ConcreteNexus CEO Lionel Lemay to Support Climate Earth on Codes, Standards, and Industry Education

Lionel Lemay, Founder and CEO of ConcreteNexus, will partner with Climate Earth—the leading provider of EPD software for the concrete industry—to advance codes and standards advocacy and expand industry education.
Lemay’s first initiative will be hosting The Future of Concrete, a new monthly webinar series sponsored by Climate Earth. The series will unpack the major market and regulatory shifts coming in 2026, including how these changes will influence mix designs, pricing strategies, and competitive bidding. It will also examine why owners are increasingly demanding low‑carbon concrete and how this shift is transforming specifications across key project sectors. Each session will highlight emerging concrete technologies and practical strategies producers can use to stay competitive, reduce risk, and position their businesses for long‑term success.
The first webinar is scheduled for January 21, 2–3 p.m. Eastern. Lemay will be joined by Karl Laughton, CEO of Climate Earth, for a deep dive into the critical market and regulatory changes arriving in 2026.

CSC Reaches 1,500 Responsible Sourcing Certifications Worldwide

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC), founded in 2016, has reached a significant global milestone with the issuance of its 1,500th responsible sourcing certificate in October 2025. Since its inception, CSC has advanced responsible sourcing and sustainable manufacturing practices across the concrete, cement, and aggregates industries worldwide.
Each certification represents a producer’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement—key drivers in elevating sustainability throughout the construction value chain. This achievement underscores CSC’s ongoing role in supporting companies as they work to build a more responsible, resilient, and low‑impact built environment.
“This is an important milestone for CSC and for all the companies that have demonstrated sustainable manufacturing practices,” said Lionel Lemay, Director of Market Development for CSC - North America. While many certified plants are located in Europe, facilities in South America and Asia have also earned certification, and several producers in North America are actively pursuing it. CSC certification is recognized within both the LEED and Envision green building standards, further reinforcing its value to project teams and owners.

CSC and ISI Release New Factsheet to Advance Sustainable Infrastructure

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) and the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) have jointly released a new factsheet designed to help construction and infrastructure professionals more effectively integrate concrete sustainability into the Envision sustainable infrastructure certification. The resource illustrates how CSC certification and the Envision framework work together to support measurable environmental, social, and governance (ESG) outcomes across the built environment.
CSC‑certified concrete (version 3.0 and above) is formally recognized by Envision as a third‑party verified sustainability program. The factsheet outlines the specific Envision credits supported by CSC certification, including:
RA1.1 – Support Sustainable Procurement Practices: Gold and Platinum certificates contribute to all achievement levels.
RA1.2 – Use Recycled Materials: Silver, Gold, and Platinum certificates with the voluntary R‑Module support all achievement levels.
CR1.1 – Reduce Net Embodied Carbon: Silver, Gold, and Platinum certificates with the voluntary CO₂‑Module contribute to all achievement levels.
Social, Safety, and Environmental Credits: CSC certification aligns with credits related to community engagement, construction safety, equity, water stewardship, and biodiversity protection.

Article Highlights How CSC Responsible Sourcing Certification Aligns with Green Building Standards

In a recent article for Concrete Products Magazine, Lionel Lemay, Director of Market Development – North America for the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC), outlines how CSC certification supports leading green building standards and sustainable procurement policies. He explains that responsible sourcing has become a foundational element of sustainable construction, embedded in frameworks such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for buildings and Envision for infrastructure.
For the concrete value chain, CSC certification provides a clear, third‑party verified pathway to demonstrate that materials are produced with environmental, social, and ethical integrity—helping producers meet growing expectations from owners, designers, and policymakers.
